Our Mission

Insights into the United Nations and its functioning are an important key to understanding international politics. Model United Nations (MUN) conferences were created to provide in-depth practical insights into how the United Nations thinks and works. In these simulation games, young adults slip into the role of diplomats and represent a country assigned to them in various committees.

Together with other students from all over the world, they try to find solutions to world political problems and pass resolutions. In addition to improving global political understanding, negotiation skills and rhetorical skills, MUNs are primarily designed to help participants learn to look beyond their own horizons and to understand and accept other positions. Moreover, they offer a great opportunity to establish international contacts.

Who we are

The Zeppelin MUN Society is a relatively new founded group under the umbrella of the Club of International Politics e.V.. Its members meet at least twice a month to deepen their knowledge of the United Nations, improve their diplomatic skills and exchange ideas with each other. In rules training sessions, members learn the negotiation rules of MUN conferences. They can then apply their knowledge in SimSims (simulations of simulations) and rehearsal simulations. They also practice writing working papers and draft resolutions and discuss various strategies for negotiating with other delegates and dealing with the chairs. The participants' rhetorical skills and English language skills are also trained, which should benefit them both in their studies and in their future professional life. The aim is to prepare the delegates as specifically and comprehensively as possible for their trips to MUN conferences. Once or twice a year, we also train our own chairs, who then lead the discussions in the various committees at Lake-MUN (an English-language conference for German students organised by the CIP), among other things.

The MUN Society is chaired by the CIP board member who is elected annually to the MUN chair. Delegates who travel to conferences during the year are required to attend the meetings. However, the Society welcomes all others who have an interest in international politics and diplomacy. As the meetings are held in English, we would like to address international students of Zeppelin University in particular.
