GlobalTalks

The GlobalTalk is one of our most popular formats. At this rather classically conceived event, we invite well-known and renowned personalities to join us at Lake Constance. After a short keynote speech by the person on a topic relevant in the international political context, we like to get into conversation with him or her: First, a Club member - usually from the Board of Directors - discusses with the guest and asks precise questions, also in relation to current developments. Afterwards, the audience has the opportunity to ask critical questions and thus get to know our guest better. Through the GlobalTalks, we regularly fill the large Graf von Soden Forum not only with students from Zeppelin University, but also with interested people from the whole region.

SmallTalks

As the name suggests, our SmallTalks offer CIP members the opportunity to get to know our speakers in a more personal way. Compared to the GlobalTalks, these are events on a smaller scale. We often focus on specific topics and invite experts from the field.

So far we have been able to hold SmallTalks on topics such as female genital mutilation, economic geopolitics (lithium) etc.. In this way, we offer our members the opportunity to deal with seemingly niche issues, away from the mainstream topics that are always discussed in the media. In this way, they can broaden their own horizons and recognise connections within the field of international politics off the "beaten track".

CIP Diplomats Dinner

Program

In times of declining trust in multilateral organisations such as the UN, WTO and OECD, as well as the increasing polarisation of our current world order, we would like to ask how modern diplomacy can counteract these developments. At our first Diplomats Dinner at the end of October, we would like to discuss the topic "Future of Diplomacy - How can progress be shaped through dialogue?

We look forward to your participation - however, in order to ensure a small setting for the event, tickets are strictly limited. (The champagne reception and the meal are included in the ticket price).

Workshops

If our guests are taking the long way to Lake Constance, we naturally want to make the best possible use of the time with them. For this reason, we often offer our CIP members the exclusive format of workshops. These are conducted by our respective guests and usually take place before or after the corresponding Global or SmallTalks. This allows them to benefit from the practical experience of our speakers and to exchange ideas on a very small scale.

Popcorn meets Politics

Political education is a core concern of the Club of International Politics e.V. But this does not necessarily have to take place through workshops and lectures.

We regularly show selected films and documentaries that deal with various political topics and convey content in an entertaining way. We are happy to listen to recommendations from our members!

Regulars' tables

Whether you want to get to know the association, its members or the board of directors, or exchange views on the latest developments in international politics with fellow students over a drink, the regulars' tables provide an opportunity for open discussion. In a relaxed atmosphere, information is also provided about the latest activities of the association.

Excursions and Study trips

The CIP organises an annual excursion to political Berlin. Around the NATO Talk of the German Atlantic Society, participating members are offered an extensive social programme such as visits to embassies and political consultations.

Since 2019, the CIP has also organised 10- to 14-day political study trips, as most recently in August of the same year to Iran. During this trip, the participating members travelled around the country, got to know the culture and people, and visited various political institutions such as the German Embassy or the Chamber of Foreign Trade
